Mechanical Fitter / Installation Engineer
Salary £28K (depending on experience) based on a 40-hour working week + overtime + Pension, on-site expenses; lunches / meals (T&C apply), all travel costs, use of company vehicle & tools supplied.
Main Responsibilities and Key Tasks
Site & Project Activities:
The successful applicant must demonstrate the following skills and aptitudes, or have the ability to develop them:
· Work within Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS), for jobs where appropriate.
· Work with a lead installation engineer to install ventilation ductwork, bracketry, dust collectors, cable containment & cables
· Carry out servicing, filter changes & maintenance of relevant equipment.
· Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with our procedures, check lists, working practices, Risk Assessments / method statements & HSE Workplace Health & Safety Act / Regulations
· Ensure a clean / tidy workplace.
· Quality inspection of parts.
· Assist Proposals Engineer with specification visits and costings, as required.
· Being careful of resources & environmentally sustainable & recycling as required
· Further your own education/Training, relevant to the Company’s main activities, including attending seminars, lectures, exhibitions etc. as required.
· Some workshop fabrication work may be required occasionally.
· Carry out all reasonable requests from line manager.
You must have a full UK driving licence
Skills and Abilities
Essential:
· Previous experience of industrial/commercial mechanical installations: duct/pipefitting/mechanical services installation etc (ventilation and air handling systems)
· Servicing and testing of dust extraction systems and general mechanical services
· Understand mechanical engineering drawings
· A basic electrical knowledge advantageous
· Be respectful, professional, adaptable.
· Have a ‘can-do’ attitude and resilience to complete a task / project
· Be a good listener / communicator & able to put your point across. Able to communicate at all levels.
· Good time management skills, ability to work to tight deadlines.
· Self-motivated and pro-active; look to continually improve procedures & working practices
· Reliable, responsible & organised, able to work under own initiative as well as part of a team
· Problem solving abilities
· Moderate computer literacy, Microsoft office
· Be fit & healthy and not afraid of heights.
Desired, training will be provided as required:
· Electrical Installation; cable, cable trays / containment etc.
· Simple industrial fault finding
· IPAF & PASMA licences for working at height,
· Have a commercial awareness and be able to take the initiative.

The position will require travel, generally covering the South of England, but can include visits further afield, you must therefore be able to work away from home, generally no longer than 2-4 week at a time. Occasional long days (12-14 hrs) and some weekend working will be required, paid at overtime rates.
